This is the traditional tune that's most commonly performed to accompany the Highland sword dance, which we described in Manituana (1st part, chapter 31). Some believe this music was composed by none other than king Malcolm III of Scotland, back in the 11th century. Others think that it's much more recent, and wasn't composed earlier than the 19th century.
Here it is, performed on smallpipe by Patrick McLaurin. He plays the bagpipe and is based in Lubbock, Texas. Check out his website, where you can listen to a plenty of tunes. And if you marry or throw a party (or some battle re-enactment!) not too far from where he lives, hire him to play.
